Over the course of a summer, the Centaur CP immunoassay analyzer was redesigned from the ground up. The goal for the project was to bring this product up to date with the rest of Siemen’s Healthineer’s branding

What is an Immunoassay Analyzer? Immunoassay analyzers are used to identify and detect the concentration of specific substances in a sample, usually using an antibody as a reagent.
This type of testing equipment is on the front lines of COVID-19, The Centaur CP is the top of the line benchtop analyzer and tests the blood for a positive or negative COVID test result.

Siemens’ Branding Language
Bring the design of outdated Centaur CP to the current form language and maximize the ergonomic experience based on the touchpoints.
The Medical Lab Professional, is the profession that directly handles such equipment. They run the lab tests for countless types of viruses and pathogens. I had a chance to speak with the woman responsible to train Medical Lab Professionals on Siemens equipment, to gain her insight on the areas that need improving.

Top Cover
Top cover designed to make the handle as accessible as possible. The top cover handle is exposed for ease of use.
Door Compartments
More surface area exposed to allow easier usage. Handles of door-like compartments are consistent across entire design.
Drawer Compartments
Handles of drawers are designed consistently across entire product.
Funnel
Like other door-like compartments, the cuvette shoot has a slot like design to make it intuitive to use.
